Jaguar has a reputation for producing beautiful and yet strong luxury cars unmatched in style. And they have done this for years.

Jaguar History

Jaguar’s founder, William Lyons was in the 1920s a side car maker. This is the side car that was introduced in the motorcycle for an extra passenger. Lyons soon moved from the side car to building his very own cars and moved his factory from Blackpool to Coventry in 1928. Lyons had no problem taking his car company comfortably through the great depression by creating cars that were real value for money.

Another important land mark came for Jaguar in 1948 when it produced the fastest production car the XK 120. It was a real winner with a stunning design and low price combined with the top speed. Sales hit the roof.

Reputation has been the main seller of Jaguars and this declined during the 1970s more so after the retirement of the founder, Sir William Lyons. Luckily this situation was reversed in the 90s when Jaguar recovered some of its’ old glory. In 1993 the advanced AJ-V8 engine was created and fully brought back reliability and swiftness to the Jaguar brand bring it back to top contention in the luxury car market alongside names like BMW and Mercedes Benz.

In 2008 Tata Motor Company of India purchased Jaguar from Ford and has retained the strong identity of this well-loved luxury vehicle. The experience of driving this “big cat” is so addictive that those who get hooked on Jaguars can never ever be rehabilitated to start looking at other car makes. That is the real danger here.
