Anybody who comes across FPV outside Australia will find it a very strange term that others know little or nothing about. This is hardly surprising because FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) is a unique name for a unique Ford company that is found only in Australia.

FPV

FPV History:

The Ford branch’s mission is to produce powerful sports cars to enable Ford to compete with it’s other rivals (most notably Holden) in this niche of the car market.

This company was established in 2002 in Melbourne. Ford Performance Racing (FPR) was then launched in 2003 manly to help highlight the link between FPV road cars and the V8 supercars.

FPV pursues “Total Performance” and is guided by 3 key principles that drive the DNA of every single car that leaves their factories. Firstly all FPV cars have to be much more powerful than the original Ford that they have been modeled after.

This means that even though the two cars may look similar, the power under the hood cannot be compared. The second catchword in the FPV mission statement is Safety. Great effort is made to ensure that the chassis, brakes and driveline are adjusted to match the increased power.

This ensures that even with the phenomenal power FPV enthusiasts still have enough safety features to match. Thirdly FPV strive to produce genuine vehicles that are true to the styling and power that the brand has become associated with.

The sound engineering and reliability behind the Ford name which is almost as old as the auto industry has ensured huge success for FPV in their unique new approach in the auto industry in Australia.
