If you want to consider purchasing the greenest car in the market today then you need to take a look at the 2009-2010 Toyota Prius i-Tech price. This hybrid car produces fewer emissions than any other and yet is also a joy to drive.

Toyota Prius iTech

Big improvements in this third generation Prius include the fuel consumption which is an impressive 3.91 litres for every 100kms. Additionally, the previous 1.5 litre petrol engine has been replaced by a 1.8-litre four cylinder one. And yet despite the expected price tag for hybrids, the Toyota Prius prices remain attractive especially when you take into consideration the fuel economy and attractive features.

Plenty of other improvements in the interior will be a delight for both previous Prius owners and new buyers. It starts with some clever design ideas that have created more space. For instance the front seats are 30mm thinner to provide more knee and leg room for rear passengers. Re-designed rear suspensions and smaller but more powerful batteries have delivered plenty of extra space in the luggage area, upto 446 litres.

The shift-by-wire gear system has allowed for a complete re-design of the dashboard and center console.

On the roof of the Toyota Prius i-Tech are solar cells that generate 59 watts of electricity that drives a fan that discharges hot air from the cabin. This means that the car interior can be cooled before the driver even enters the car. This is in addition to the air conditioning system run by the hybrid battery.

The way the Toyota Prius i-Tech operates is that from start to 50 km/h it is totally an electric vehicle. At higher speeds the 1.8 litre petrol engine starts to exert itself.

Our verdict at New Car Shopper is that the Toyota Prius i-Tech will be the choice for many families but will also make a lot of sense for commercial operators looking for fuel economy.

As is usual with Toyota there are plenty of reasons to go for the new 2009 Toyota Yaris YRX 3-Door. For starters it comes in 16 models with the option of either a 1.3-litre or 1.5-litre engine. And as usual the 2009 Toyota Yaris YRX 3-Door price gives it very high marks in the value-for-money stakes.

There is the three-door hatch, five-door hatch or four-door sedan which can either be powered by a 1.3-litre engine or a 1.5-litre engine.

Car enthusiasts and everybody else will also be delighted and excited by the numerous small details that have Toyota DNA written all over them to be found in the YRX.

This includes the light steering which will no doubt be much appreciated by female drivers as will the compact dimensions, wide opening rear hatch and ease with which the seats can be folded for extra luggage and cargo space.

Toyota’s strong R and D and tradition of cutting edge engineering innovation are clearly visible in the low fuel consumption of 6.01-litres for 100kms and CO2 emissions of 141g/km for the 1.3-litre engine and 6.1/100kms and 145g/km for the 1.5litre version. And then the 2009 Toyota Yaris YRX 3-Door drives pretty well even when pushed to its’ limits.

In the interior, new trim materials and telescopic steering wheel adjustments are new introductions that we at New Car Shopper especially liked. It adds to a very modern look of the interior which stands out even when compared to other new releases from rival vehicles.

In fact the problem car critics have always had is that Toyota’s traditional attention to detail makes it very hard work to be critical and not sound like one is grasping at straws. Toyota prices position the YRX to compete with the Honda Jazz and Ford’s Fiesta.

“Don’t tamper with a best-seller,” seems to be the mantra at Toyota where the Corolla is concerned and this can clearly be seen in the latest 2009 version of this car.

Toyota Corolla Review

For years consumers have looked to the Toyota Corolla for the best combination of fuel economy, safety and interior room for the price and the latest release religiously sticks to that identity.

There is no mistaking the Corolla signature in the design, handling and features of this new model. Admittedly it is a tad larger and a little more comfortable to drive than previous models but if truth be told there is nothing really new to speak of. This may not be necessarily a bad thing for the hordes of faithful Corolla fans that have grown to expect a certain character.

This crowd will certainly not be disappointed by the 2009 Toyota Corolla. From the base LE to the sporty-looking XRS there are 5 different trim levels. All are powered by Toyota’s 1.8L dual WT-I four cylinder engine. This engine boasts of 132 horsepower and 128 lb-ft torque. However the S and XRS 2009 models can come with a 158 horsepower 2.4 WT-I four cylinder engine and a five speed manual or automatic transmission for those who want more power under their hood.

On closer scrutiny, it emerges that the new Corolla has a body that is a wee bit longer and wider despite having the same 102.4-in wheelbase of earlier models. The outcome is that the feel is not that of a small car. Indeed there is enough room to comfortably accommodate four adults and a child. Other new features include the rear seats having a 60/40 split allowing you to carry longer objects, a DVD navigation system, vehicle stability control to improve control in unusually adverse situations and an XM satellite radio for real time traffic information.

The final verdict here is that those who were expecting a Honda Civic fighter will be disappointed but Toyota Corolla fans will love this 2009 offering for sure.
