Almost a third of Mazda sales worldwide are achieved through the Mazda3 and so it is hardly surprising that a lot of care is usually put into the launch of any new Mazda3.

The Mazda 3 Maxx Sport is no exception. Although the truth is that the Australian car market has always been very receptive to this make and the previous offering (the 323) managed to move almost 400,000 units out of showrooms across the country before the arrival of the new Mazda3 earlier this year.
Driving the Mazda 3 Maxx Sport, it is not too difficult to see why this vehicle has been so popular in Australia. To start with there are plenty of safety features like the Dynamic Stability Control, Traction Control and ABS amongst many others.
Then there is the interior package that includes satellite Navigation and Bluetooth phone connectivity. Not to mention the 16-inch alloy wheels. The new generation 2.0-litre engine powers the new Mazda 3 Maxx Sport and executives insist that it has improved fuel economy that stands at 8.21-litres for 100kms.
Emissions have also been reduced to only 193g/km. These are the figures for the automatic version. We at New Car Shopper especially liked the Mazda five-speed automatic transmission. This replaces the previous four speed version.
Moving to the inside of the car, the leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear level are distinct and add to the impressive look of the interior. As does the 4.1 inch colour information screen which also serves as the cruise control screen.
Although the VW Golf is in competition the Mazda 3 Maxx Sport price is lower and should therefore end up winning many more customers.
