To summarize a review of the Kia Cerato SLI in one sentence; good looks from simple but very contemporary styling and surprising power under the hood because this new kid on the block at Kia can move from zero to 100km/h in 9.3 seconds (contrast this with the Toyota Corolla at 9.7 seconds).

And it does not stop at good looks and impressive engine only. The 2009 Kia Cerato SLI is also nice and enjoyable to drive. When you consider the wide-ranging features in the entire package, the Kia Cerato SLI price is no doubt very appealing and many will see it as great value.
The Cerato can be had either as the ‘S’ model or top range ‘SLi’ with both being powered by Kia’s reliable 2.0-litre engine. Kia executives are bragging that their new Theta II engine is the most powerful currently in the small sedan car segment. To be honest, we at New Car Shopper found it difficult to come up with evidence to the contrary. The four cylinder engine works with CVVT (Continuously Variable Valve Timing) delivering 115 kW at 6,200 rpm. Buyers of the SLi model have a choice of either the standard five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic with sportsmatic manual shift.
The other feature of the Kia Cerato SLI being touted by executives is spaciousness where they insist that the front legroom and shoulder room is second to none in its’ class. Admittedly on entering the Cerato the immediate feeling is one of plenty of room.
There is no doubt that there is a strong influence of legendary guru Peter Schreyer in the sharp modern design and roominess of the Cerato. Schreyer joined Kia from Volkswagen group where he also had a very successful stint.
As the market gets increasingly price sensitive, there is no doubt that sharp attractive design will give the already attractive Kia prices an edge in the marketplace.
