The 2009 Ford Mondeo Wagon is a long awaited addition to the Mondeo family in Australia and is expected to compete with Holden’s Commodore Sportwagon and the numerous other SUVs in the Australian market.

Overall it is well equipped with plenty of room and is a very quiet ride. The LX and Zetec are among the available wagon models. Both are powered by the current 2.3 litre cylinder unleaded engine with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The lower end 2009 Ford Mondeo LX Wagon has a number of desirable features. These include air conditioning, front power windows, voice activated Bluetooth phone link, cruise control and an MP3 compatible sound system with 8 speakers. The steering wheel is leather-wrapped.
A couple more features have been added to these in the Zetec version. Parking sensors, 17-inch alloys, a Sony sound system, dual zone climate control, rain sensing wipers and auto headlights are some of them.
The new Mondeo also includes a Titanium model which brings a lot of firsts for a Ford vehicle in Australia. They include swiveling low beam headlights, 18-inch alloys and sports suspension, the keyless start system and heated front seats among other exciting additions.
Overall most people find the 118kW/208Nm 2.3 litre petrol engine nothing short of amazing. It is rather smooth and quiet for the kind of power it has. The same can be said for the diesel counterpart which is 103kW/320Nm.
The 2009 Ford Mondeo Wagon will greatly please those seeking load spaces and yet want to avoid SUVs with all their weaknesses and especially their great big thirst at the pump.
